Dive into your stash of fabric snippets and create a one-of-a-kind fabric brooch
featuring your favourite threads and stitches or try something new, the choice is yours…

This workshop is offered via Zoom – Sunday February 27th 10am – 3pm. Workshop fee is $45.00 for non-members.

Contact Karen at bwilliams2@sasktel.net by February 15, 2022 if you are interested.

Whether you’re a beginner or expert stitcher, everyone can create their own unique piece of
wearable art. From design concept to finished product, you will be guided through the steps
needed to make your own fabric brooch. Your instructor is Siri McCormick from Calgary AB.

Once registered in this workshop, you will receive (in advance, via email) a workshop handout
that includes: full instructions on how to construct a stitched sketch brooch, tips for layouts and
construction, ideas for inclusions and finishing, with lots of photos included throughout!
If you prefer, you can also choose between constructing your piece by hand or using a sewing
machine (but it’s waaaay more fun by hand).

Participants will need to have on hand: a variety of colourful fabric remnants (cotton or cotton
blend), variety of threads to be used for stitching (sewing & embroidery threads), needles &
scissors, small piece of cotton/linen/muslin (for base to stitch pieces onto), solid colour piece of
felt/wool melton etc. (for a more sturdy background), brooch pin clasp. Please come prepared
with an idea or two for a prairie landscape design (drawn by you or clipped from a photo).
